First Week in a Nutshell

Finally, Kristine and I have had time to settle down and relax.  It was a difficult time traveling to Norway since we brought Blake with.  We were switched from KLM Airlines to Air France because KLM doesn't fly pets until September.  We found that out 3 hours before our scheduled flight.  That changed our travel plans and we ended up getting to Norway 12 hours later than we had originally planned.

Our apartment is attached to the larger house to the back left.  Ours is
the smaller structure on the right side.

Here is another look at our apartment.  That's our new
outdoor furniture.  We're excited and look forward to
drinking lots of coffee outside.  The door on the left is
a door leading outside from our bedroom and the door
on the right is the door leading outside from the living room.

This is the barn on the property.  For those who are
unaware, this entire property was once a farm.  It's nice
because we're able to use the lower level of the barn
for storage.  We enter through the small red door.

This is the house/property from a different angle. We
live in the smaller house that's connected on the left.

I wasn't planning on purchasing a TV right away but
Kristine's father and I saw one we thought would be
good to have.  It's a 40 inch 3D Smart TV.  I actually
didn't know it was a 3D TV until after purchasing it.
Since it's a smart TV, I will use it to skype people
in America.  I will need to purchase a camera first.

We purchased two single beds to make one king size
bed.  This is a picture documenting part of the process.

This is part of our kitchen.  It's small but
has everything Kristine and I need.  This
picture only represents a part of the kitchen.
Before we moved in, the kitchen was renovated
so everything is new!

Blake keeping a close eye on me as I was
attempting to organize objects in the kitchen.

Bjørn installing the washing machine.

My Weber gas grill on the patio.  It's a must have!

The plant on the right side has many herbs.  I enjoy
cooking quite a bit so while Kristine was at the store
she purchased herbs such as oregano, parsley, thyme,
and rosemary.  I enjoy fresh herbs like this much more
than dry herbs from a jar.

For those who want our address, this is it!

Today (Sunday) we celebrated all the summer birthdays
from Kristine's father's side.  We went to her grandparents
farm to celebrate.

Blake hanging out at the birthday party.

The children LOVED Blake, although I don't think
he really cared all that much.  He spent more time
keeping track of my whereabouts.

Everyone hanging out down by the beach.

Blake's first time in salt water went well.  At first he
didn't care for it but after awhile he swam with me
for a long period of time.  It was great exercise for him.

Blake enjoying a nice swim.

Coffee and dessert

It was raining at the time so we had coffee and dessert
in the barn.

The first few days...

I apologies for the large amount of time it has taken for any posts to be published to this blog.  The first few days in Norway have been busy, yet exciting.  Blake has adjusted to his new home quite well.  The property we're residing in, is an apartment connected to a larger home.  At one time, this property was a functioning farm.  There is a large yard, field area, and a barn for storage.  The apartment is great for Kristine, Blake, and myself.  It contains a large living room/dining area, 1 1/2 bath, 2 small storage rooms, a bedroom, and of course, a kitchen.  Most of the apartment has been updated, especially the kitchen and bathroom.  Kristine and I enjoy the easy access to our patio area with doors leading out from the living room and our bedroom.  This also makes it nice for letting Blake outside.  The aspect I love most about Norwegian homes is that there usually is no carpet and lots of natural light.  There will be pictures of our apartment coming soon, considering that we're in the process of sprucing it up a bit with new curtains, plants, TV, washing machine, grill, a bed, etc...During this time, we're keeping our eyes open for a good deal on a car.  We're looking into a four door car with a hatch-back for Blake.  We're hoping to make a purchase this coming week if possible.
